The Norseman 447

Shakti

When looking at the sleek lines of the Norseman 447, it is difficult to imagine the spaciousness that you will find below.

Despite the feeling of space and light you experience as you enter the cabin, ample hand holds throughout the cabin make moving around while underway easy and safe.

The cabin provides a balance of warmth (teak paneling throughout) and openness (selected white Formica surfaces including the ceiling panels).  The woodwork is to a standard not found on most yachts.

At the base of the companionway, the galley is located to port and the navigation table to starboard.

The navigation station faces forward with all instrumentation readily accessible and easily accessed.

Main Salon

The main salon is located mid ships with a single settee to starboard and a dinette with large table to port.

The settee converts to a double bunk providing comfortable accommodation while underway.  The main salon seats six easily around an expandable teak table.  Storage can be found beneath the seating or above in louvered cabinets and open bookshelves.

Forward Cabin and Head

Forward Cabin

Leaving the salon, the guest head is located on the port side with a hanging locker opposite across a short hall to the private, double cabin forward.

The forward cabin has its own hanging locker, drawers, and louvered cabinets making it more than a “crews quarters”.  A large port provides light and air as well as access for bringing sails from on deck  and stowing them under the berth.

Owner's Cabin

Owner's Cabin

The owner’s cabin is located aft and is accessed by a short hallway  with full headroom behind the navigation station.  The large engine compartment is accessed from the hall by means of two large doors.  It provides unparalleled access to the engine in addition to other equipment requiring regular maintenance.  The generator is located on the opposite side in its own insulated compartment.  There is also an additional hanging locker and additional enclosed storage in the hallway to the owner's cabin.

The owner’s cabin is what distinguishes the Norseman from other boats in its class.  It is both roomy and cozy at the same time.  Ample ports (5 total) and an operable hatch provide ventilation and light.  Teak panelling creates the feeling of warmth and richness found elsewhere.    There is a full queen size berth on center line with storage on either side.  Sleeping underway is comfortable and easy.  The double berth faces a vanity counter with large mirror and storage below.  There is another hanging locker and numerous drawers and cabinets to provide ample stowage.  The aft cabin has its own head with all amenities including a separate shower with seat.
